Flying Saucer
Dec 31, 2021
He flips the table
And throws the saucer across the room.
She must’ve said something smart
That hurts his ego a little.
I get up and quietyl retreat
Like a dog conditioned by terror.
With my door shut, I sing to myself:
I will fly away.
Though I flew miles and miles away
The flying suacer follows
Wherever I go
Peppering my eyes with fear and guilt.
I imagine places I ought to be.
But the rest if found nowhere.
With my eyes shut, I wander off again and again
On a flying saucer.
